Neighborhoods: Old East Dallas, White Rock Lake

The Santa Fe Trail Dallas is a great scenic run. Starting in Deep Ellum, it moves through East Dallas for 4.3 miles all the way to White Rock Lake. You’ll see greenery, public parks, and possibly some wildlife. It’s a great escape from the busy Dallas traffic.
You’ll see plenty of runners, but keep in mind that cyclists are moving fast down the Dallas Santa Fe Trail. As long as you stay aware of other pedestrians, you’re going to have an awesome run.
Directions
- Start at Randall Park
- Follow Santa Fe Trail for 3 miles
- Take White Rock Lake Trail when the Santa Fe splits
The Run
The Santa Fe Trail begins in Deep Ellum, but I recommend starting at Randall Park. There are a few traffic stops for the first mile of the trail.
Follow the Santa Fe Trail for 3 miles before hitting White Rock Lake. Pass over the short creek bridge to T. & P. Hill Park. Keep running until you reach the lake.
Finish your run moving alongside White Rock Lake and enjoy the views. Keep an eye out for rowers on the water. After your run, check out The Lot on the Santa Fe Trail. It’s an outdoor beer garden with great food and games to play. You’ll pass it running towards the lake.
For those that want to run further, move on to White Rock Lake Trail or SoPac Trail.
