Ridgewood Trail – Dallas Running Trails

City: Dallas, TX

Neighborhoods: Northeast Dallas

Distance: 4.7 miles

Katy Trail and White Rock Lake Trail look far away from each other on the map. There’s about 5 miles of residential neighborhoods and a highway between them.

The Ridgewood Trail in Dallas connects the two. Starting at Mockingbird Station near SMU, Ridgewood Trail runs 3 miles until it hits SoPac Trail (which runs directly to White Rock Lake). A lot of cyclists and long distance runners use this trail.

This route will take you 2.3 miles down Ridgewood trail and back, but you can always run further.

  3. Turn right over bridge when trail splits
  4. Run straight for 2 miles to Ridgewood Park

The Run

Start your run at Glencoe Park near Highway 75. If you’re driving, you’ll find plenty of street parking.

Glencoe Park

Move west through the park to find University Crossing Trail. Right out of the gate, you’ll get some elevation running up the pedestrian bridge!

Pedestrian Bridge

Get over the bridge and move past the Mockingbird DART rail station. When you see the trail split like in the photo below, take the right turn. University Crossing Trail will turn into Ridgewood Trail.

University Crossing Trail Split

For 2 miles, you’ll run through residential Dallas alongside the DART train track. Keep moving down the trail until you make it to Ridgewood Park.

To end at 4.7 miles, turn around at the park and head back to your starting point.

If you want to make this a long distance run, keep moving until the trail turns into SoPac. Just cross over Fisher Rd after passing Ridgewood Park. Use the SoPac trail to connect to White Rock Lake and the Santa Fe Trestle Trail!
