City: Dallas, TX
Neighborhoods: Preston Hollow
Distance: 4.6 miles
The Northaven Trail moves through the North Dallas area for 8 miles. It’s a fairly new running trail in Dallas – it opened in 2012 and there are still plans for future development. The complete plan for the Northaven Trail includes a bridge that passes over Route 75 connecting to the White Rock Creek and SoPac trails.
The trail is busy with pedestrians and cyclists, and there are a lot more families out on the trail than other running routes in Downtown Dallas.
Directions
- Start at the Northaven Trail Parking Lot
- Move west on the trail
- Pass the 2nd mile marker
- Turn back at Dallas North Tollway
The Run
Start your run at the Northaven Trail Parking Lot on the trail’s east end. Move west on the trail!
The trail has distance markers like below. Here’s me passing the 1st mile!
The route is safe, but look out for street crossings. The trail moves through busy residential neighborhoods, so there are a lot of cars out. You’ll run into a few intersections like below. Look both ways before running across the street!
Here’s Mile Marker 2! Keep running a little further until you bump into the tollway.
Here’s the street bridge over the Dallas North Tollway. The trail continues on for another 6 miles if you choose to continue running, but the route I have mapped turns back here.
Run back to your starting point on the trail!
