City: Fort Worth, TX
Neighborhoods: Crestwood, University Park
Distance: 4.5 miles
The Fort Worth Trinity Trails span all across the city, but the portion that runs around the quiet Crestwood neighborhood and the west fork of the river is uniquely secluded. There are big wide paths with a lot less traffic, so you’ll have your space.
It’s one of the few segments of the Fort Worth Trinity Trails where the path is wide enough for a full-on race with thousands of runners. In fact, the Cowtown Marathon route runs through the Crestwood neighborhood and takes the trail on the west fork back towards downtown.
Get away from busy Downtown Fort Worth and get a nice, quiet run in at Crestwood!
Directions
- Start at West Side Lions Baseball Field
- Move north on the Trinity Trail
- Move onto Rockwood Park Dr
- Turn back at University Dr bridge
The Run
Start your run at the West Side Lions Little League Baseball Field. There’s plenty of parking available. Follow the river north for a mile.

When you make the first mile mark, you’ll see the trail split into two; one gravel and one paved. On the map I start following the paved trail, Rockwood Park Dr. It’s a street that actually turns into a blocked off trail for pedestrians.
The higher up gravel trail has better skyline views, but more cyclists are passing by. Choose either trail. They’re both going the same way.

Keep running until you see the University Park Dr bridge. Pass under the bridge to get one more view of the downtown skyline before turning back.

If you want to run further, the Trinity River Trail System keeps moving east after the bridge towards Downtown Fort Worth.
