The State Fair of Texas has been around for 130+ years. It’s a major event, and more than 2 million people from around the world attend annually. The State Fair is seasonal, but you can visit the site anytime. Use that opportunity to go run through Fair Park in Dallas!
Fair Park makes for a great quick run. You’ll see incredible Art Deco architecture, museums, and other landmarks on the route. And you’ll be one of the few people on site.
Directions
- Head east on MLK Blvd
- Head northwest on 1st Ave
- Pass Texas Vietnam Veterans Memorial
- Head east through Esplanade Fountain
- Wrap around the Cotton Bowl
- Pass Midway and head to Leonhardt Lagoon
- Wrap around the Lagoon, finish at the Aquarium
The Run
Start on MLK Blvd on the southside of the fairgrounds. You’ll pass through State Fair gates with the Ferris Wheel off in the distance.

Take the first left turn you can onto 1st Ave. You’ll pass the Leonhardt Lagoon and museums before hitting Parry Ave on the far westside of Fair Park. Circle around the Texas Vietnam Veterans Memorial and head east through the Esplanade Fountain.

Run east towards the Cotton Bowl. Coming from the Esplanade Fountain, you’ll move around the north side of the stadium. Wrap around it. Before you see Leonhardt Lagoon, you’ll pass Midway and other attractions. The rides and games are closed off until fair season, but you’ll see more great views of the State Fair Ferris Wheel.

Keeping circling the Cotton Bowl until you are facing Leonhardt Lagoon once more. Make your way around the Lagoon, passing museums and interesting sculpture art. Finish your run at Fair Park in Dallas out in front of the Children’s Aquarium.
