Turtle Creek Trail – Dallas Running Trails

City: Dallas, TX

Neighborhoods: Oak Lawn, Uptown

Distance: 2.0 miles

The Katy Trail is the more well known running route in Uptown Dallas, but did you know there is a whole other path that runs next to Katy Trail and Turtle Creek? If you’re looking for a substitute for the Katy Trail, go run at Turtle Creek Park in Dallas.

You’ll run on the trail, passing under bridge after bridge until you get to Reverchon Park. Make the full loop around the park, and head back the same way you came. This route is only 2 miles, but you can make it a longer run by moving onto the Katy Trail.

Directions

  1. Start at Turtle Creek Park
  2. Move south on Turtle Creek
  3. Take the first set of stairs down to the creek
  4. Take the trail onto Turtle Creek Blvd
  5. Make your way around Reverchon Park
  6. Take the same route north to Turtle Creek Park

The Run

Start at Turtle Creek Park in Oak Lawn to move onto Turtle Creek Trail. Move south onto Turtle Creek Blvd to access the set of stairs that takes you down to the creek.

It’s surprising how secluded the trail is. The Katy Trail is just one block away, and it is packed with runners. You’ll be one of the few people out on Turtle Creek so take advantage of that!

Run south alongside the creek. When the first portion of the trail ends, move back onto Turtle Creek Blvd. Keep moving south until you find the second part of the trail after passing Park Bridge Ct.

Make your way around Reverchon Park before heading back north on the trail. If you want to run further, the Katy Trail connects to the southside of the park!
