We’re in the third week of quarantine in Dallas. The Safer-at-Home order is in effect until April 30th, and we’re expecting a peak of COVID-19 cases on the 20th. But, it’s looking like social distancing is working. Dallas County is flattening the curve!
We still have to keep our distance from others, but we’re also ready to get back out running. The Katy Trail and other popular trails in Dallas were close to closing after a sharp increase in traffic.
Where can you go run? Here’s a list of running trails in Dallas were you can distance yourself from others.
Dallas Fair Park
The State Fair of Texas is a great spot to get a quick run in. This 2.0 mile run will take you past museums, art, and the Cotton Bowl.
The fairgrounds stay open year round. You can park onsite and walk (or run) around freely. The only part you can’t access is Midway, where the rides and games are. But you can still see the Ferris Wheel from a distance!
Trinity Strand Trail
The Trinity Strand Trail is hardly used, but it’s great for running. The trail is 2.3 miles long, making the total run 4.6 miles to the end and back.
You’ll run past big murals in the Design District. It’s not on the trail, but go find the new Tiger King Mural by Daniel Driensky after your run.
Trinity Skyline Trail
If you’re looking for a long run, the Trinity Skyline Trail is it. This route goes for 9.0 miles, and you won’t see many other runners. Run south on the Trinity River and back up north.
Stay focused on your long run, but make sure to bring your phone for photos. The views of Downtown Dallas are awesome. It’s called the Skyline Trail for a reason!
