This past weekend I ran the Cowtown 10K Race in Fort Worth and I had an awesome first time running it. Here is my quick recap of the race and what to expect on the course.
The Course
The Cowtown Marathon Weekend is typically planned for late February, so the weather should be nice.
For anyone looking to clock in a fast 10K, this is a great race to do it. The course is flat and easy to run, and of course that’s no surprise for North Texas.
What is surprising is how scenic the route is. You’ll run through picturesque neighborhoods and on the Trinity River Trail.
The Start
Before lining up, make sure to pick up your runner’s packet inside the building. You can also check out the Health & Fitness Expo going on.
The starting line is out in front of the Will Rogers Memorial Center. Runners are grouped in different corrals based on your predicted mile time, so think about the pace you want to set.
Running It
You’ll run through the Monticello and Crestwood neighborhoods for the two miles. You’ll be cheered by the neighborhood residents as you make your way north.
For Miles 2-4 you’ll run alongside the Trinity River on the Trinity Trail. You’ll see glimpses of the Fort Worth skyline over the ridge for those two miles.
Push yourself on the last leg of the Cowtown 10K Race as you make your way through Fort Worth’s Cultural District. You’ll be excited to see the Dickie’s Arena at Mile 6!
Finish
Take your well deserved medal and join the party. If you’re not from the DFW area, check out one of the museums or galleries that are in walking distance from you. You’re in the heart of Fort Worth.
